First Thursdays in Downtown Arlington

Grab the family and text the group chat, it’s THE day to be in Downtown Arlington! Enjoy once a month evening of live music, artistic experiences, and exploration at your favorite businesses! Show at Arlington Music Hall

The Arlington Music Hall has shows you can enjoy starting 8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025, it’s Atlanta Rhythm Section, then 8 p.m., Friday, March 7, it’s Dave Fenley & John Baumann, and rounding out the weekend 8 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2025, it’s Infinite Journey - The Music of Journey. Wicked Threads: The Artistry of Costume in Oz AND Princess Diana: Accredited Access Exhibition at the Arlington Museum of Art

Following the release of the highly anticipated film, the Arlington Museum of Art will debut a collection of costumes from Wicked (2024) celebrating the artistry of the costume design and twenty-one years of the beloved Broadway musical Wicked. The Princess Diana: Accredited Access Exhibition will feature a collection of larger-than-life images taken by Diana’s trusted friend and Official Royal Photographer, the late Anwar Hussein, as well as his sons Samir and Zak. Each image will be accompanied by first-hand accounts of the stories behind the world-famous moments, told through an in-depth audio guide.

Little Explorers – Downtown Library

Stop by The Children’s Play Room at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library on 10 a.m. Fridays for a morning of play-based learning. This come-and-go program will vary week-to-week as librarians explore art, math, science, engineering, and fine motor skills. Join the Arlington Public Library for a playfully discover the world around us! Designed for ages 1-4. Family Storytime – Southeast Branch Library

Join the Arlington Public Library’s fabulous library staff to sing, read and wiggle during storytime at the Southeast Branch Library 10:30 a.m. Fridays. This storytime is geared for ages 2-5. They will read books, sing songs, and have an activity after the program each week. Handmade Ceramic Mugs

Create handmade ceramic mugs 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, at the UTA FabLab! Learners will be guided through the foundations of ceramics, clay tools, and the technique of using clay slabs to create forms. Learn how to use CNC technology to enhance clay projects and create a wonderfully unique ceramic mug. If you would like to glaze your ceramic mug, return the following Friday during open hours. Slow Meadow live at UTA Planetarium

The UTA Planetarium’s 2025 Concert Series continues 7 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, with an evening of food, drinks, and live music featuring artist Slow Meadow from Houston, Texas. Appetizers are included with the price of admission. There will also be a cash bar available. Reception with food and drinks start at 6 p.m. in the planetarium atrium and the concert starts at 7 p.m. Click here for ticket information.

Slow Meadow is Houston multi-instrumentalist Matt Kidd. Kidd's releases as Slow Meadow have been celebrated by the New York Observer, NPR's Stephen Thompson, Echoes' John Diliberto, and 6LACK who sampled Lachrymosia for the platinum-selling song Luving U on his debut album, FREE 6LACK. In 2022, Kidd provided the original soundtrack to the Selena Gomez film, "My Mind & Me".

Freedom Friday

Join Texas Live! at PBR Texas 8 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, to honor all military personnel, first responders, and public service members. Show your badge or military ID at the door for a complimentary VIP table and drink specials all night.

International Genealogy Day Celebration

To mark International Genealogy Day, the Arlington Genealogical Society (AGS) and the Arlington Public Library invite you to a celebration of our family roots. Interested children and teens are welcome also, as long as they are accompanied by an adult. You will meet on the 3rd floor of the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library in the Genealogy and Local History Room. After exploring our book and map collections, you will hear how the Retro Tech Lab allows people to view the past, recorded in outdated media. You will then proceed to the Excellence Room on the 3rd floor to see and hear more about Family History research from AGS members and professional genealogists. Door prizes will be given to participants to round out the day and AGS members will be present to help answer questions. This is the perfect chance to explore your family's history, with the guidance of friendly experts who can't wait to share tips and tools and techniques!

Disc Golf for Beginners

Join this fun class and learn all the basics of disc golf, also known as frisbee golf 10 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025. You will meet at River Legacy Nature Center. It’s a flying disc sport in which players throw a disc at a target using rules similar to golf. Although this class is for beginners, the sport is usually played on a course with 9 or 18 holes. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors while engaging in some physical activity! No supplies needed. Must be at least 18 years old. This is an adult program only. NO REFUNDS for absences or cancellations (including weather). Your payment will be considered a donation to environmental education. Click here to register.

American Red Cross Blood Drive

Sewing for Beginners: Fabric Box

Learn sewing machine basics and take home a Fabric Box 2-4 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2025, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Tinker Room. Materials will be provided. This class is limited to the first 7 in attendance and is appropriate for ages 13+.

Teens Give Back

Teens, join the Arlington Public Library at the Ron Wright Lake Arlington Branch for a chance to give back to the community! The event takes place 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025. Come to make seasonal cards and gifts for seniors who partake in Books on Wheels, the library's outreach service for residents who live in select senior housing facilities. Supplies will be provided. Sunday Brunch

Ventana Grille at the Tierra Verde Golf Club clubhouse is now serving brunch from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each Sunday. Menu items include four savory Eggs Benedict entrées, Shrimp-N-Grits, Ginger Salmon, and their favorite - Napoleon's Last Meal, a buttermilk fried chicken breast over bourbon French toast and served with maple syrup!
