Day Trip – A Virtual Murder Mystery 

Murder, mystery, & delightful mayhem in the comfort of Dottie Lynn Recreation Center! Bullets On Broadway is a highly interactive Virtual Murder Mystery Party. It takes place 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023. It chronicles the opening night of new Broadway production entitled Murder In The First. Whilst the cast and crew ready themselves for opening night backstage, a murder most foul threatens to derail the show. Was it at the hands of a cast member, or someone in the audience...? Levar Burton – Maverick Speaker Series 

Beloved children’s programming icon and noted actor LeVar Burton will kick off the 2023-24 Maverick Speakers Series season at The University of Texas at Arlington. “A Conversation with LeVar Burton” will be held 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023, at Texas Hall, 701 W. Nedderman Drive. Audiences will enjoy a moderated discussion covering Burton’s career, his passion for literacy and more. “A Conversation with LeVar Burton” is sold out. Arlington Master Chorale Fall Concert 

Arlington Master Chorale kicks off its 2023-2024 season with Then Sings My Soul, the power of song on full display for two nights at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 5 and Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, at Trinity United Methodist Church.  Click on each date for ticket information. 

Fright Fest

Oktoberfest Food Festival

Head over to Six Flags Over Texas through Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023 to enjoy craft & seasonal brews complimented with a menu of German inspired cuisine at the park’s Oktoberfest Food Festival. Celebrate Oktoberfest with Six Flags by adding a Taste of Oktoberfest Sampler to your order. Six Flags Over Texas is offering over 30 beers and wines during our Oktoberfest event, including a popular list of “Oktoberfest” favorites.

Joseph Farbrook: A Mirror in the Void – Reflections of Consciousness 

It is the last weekend to head to The Gallery at UTA to experience the Joseph Farbrook: A Mirror in the Void – Reflections of Consciousness exhibition, an investigation into sentience expressed through digitally designed and fabricated forms integrated with experimental screen and projection technologies. The exhibition includes video sculptures, virtual reality, interactive pieces with live streamed text, videos, and animations projected on mirrors and viewers’ faces, a 3d printed video sculpture with autostereoscopic screen, and an immersive 4-channel video projection room. Farbrook is an American artist who received his MFA in Media Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and currently is an Associate Professor teaching New Media at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He invents customized media platforms that mix physical and virtual art making practices, and within his work he explores the evolution and consequences of cultural mythology and mediated perception. Farbrook exhibits his work regularly in galleries, museums, and installations worldwide, including Meow Wolf, SIGGRAPH, International Symposium for Electronic Arts, CURRENTS, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Watermans Gallery (London), Cyberarts Gallery, and numerous solo and group exhibitions in New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Seattle, as well as other national and international sites. 

Q BBQ Fest

This October, the only thing hotter than the Dallas Cowboys will be 30,000 pounds of brisket, chicken, pulled pork and ribs smokin’ at AT&T Stadium when some of the biggest names in BBQ come together at Q BBQ Fest presented by Miller Lite October 7-8, 2023. The family-friendly Q BBQ Fest is a weekend-long celebration of diverse experiences, award-winning cuisine, local music, BBQ tutorials and demonstrations, as well as games and activities for the whole family. Arlington Comic Fest

The fall Arlington Comic Fest is set for October 7-8 at the Bob Duncan Center.  ACF brings fans of comics, sci-fi, anime and fantasy together for one exciting event! The celebrity guest actors are Vernon Wells, Jennifer O'Dell, Tami Erin, Marjean Holden and Campbell Cooley. Admission is $15 at the door. Little Explorers – Downtown Library 

Stop by The Play Room at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library on 10 a.m. Fridays for a morning of play-based learning.  This come-and-go program will vary week-to-week as librarians explore art, math, science, engineering, and fine motor skills.  Join the Arlington Public Library as we playfully discover the world around us!  Designed for ages 1-4. Family Storytime – Southeast Branch Library

Join the Arlington Public Library’s fabulous library staff to sing, read and wiggle during storytime at the Southeast Branch Library 10:30 a.m. Fridays. This storytime is geared for ages 2-5. They will read books, sing songs, and have an activity after the program each week. Art After Dark

Explore your creative side in this after-hours artsy program for adults 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, at the Northeast Branch Library. In this Halloween edition, participate in a variety of spooky crafts including apothecary jars, perler earrings & keychains, wood burning, and painting.

Oktoberfest 2023

Get ready to add some oompah to your weekend plans with live German music, food trucks, beverages, yard games and more at Arlington’s annual Oktoberfest celebration. Oktoberfest 2023 is set from 6-10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6 at SJ Stovall Park. This family friendly event is sponsored by Arlington Parks and Recreation, Sister Cities of Arlington, Texas and the German Band of North Texas. Food truck menus are expected to include bratwurst, sausage on a stick, pretzels, fried chicken, pizza, beer, shaved ice and more. While parking and entrance to Oktoberfest is free, food trucks and other vendors will accept cash or card for purchases.

Miller Lite Hot Country Nights: Trey Lewis

Texas Live! hosts Miller Lite Hot Country Nights powered by TXU Energy. It’s Trey Lewis taking the stage at the CBD Kratom Backyard with doors opening 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2023. The Show is free to attend but you can upgrade your concert experience. Learn more by clicking here

Levitt Pavilion Fall Concert Series 

Levitt Pavilion Arlington’s Fall Concert Series continues 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, with Alex Aguilar opening for Prophets and Outlaws, then 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, it the Hispanic Heritage Celebration with Gary Hobbs headlining the concert and with several opening artists. These concerts are free. Open seating is available on the lawn. Please bring blankets and lawn chairs. American Son at Theatre Arlington

American Son takes center stage at Theatre Arlington starting 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2023. An estranged bi-racial couple must confront their feelings about race and bias after their son is detained by the local police following a traffic stop incident. Their disparate histories and backgrounds inform their assumptions as they try to find out what happened to their son. Adult situations & language. Shows at Arlington Music Hall

The Arlington Music Hall has shows you can enjoy this weekend. You can experience Infinite Journey – The Music of Journey 8:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, then Moe Bandy & Jeannie Seely, 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, and Carolanne Miljavac 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2023. Discovery Day Trip – Shadow Creek Pumpkin Farm

Discover DFW creating memories that you will never forget at Arlington Parks and Recreation Department’s themed weekend day trips. This month head to enjoy the Shadow Creek Pumpkin Farm. Drop-off time is by 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at Dottie Lynn Recreation Center and pick-up is around 5 p.m. Click here to register. 

Arlington Garden Club Plant Sale

The Arlington Garden Club's next plant sale of native and adapted perennial plants is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7,  9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fielder Museum.  

River Legacy Fall Festival 

Fall Festival is an annual fundraiser in support of environmental education at the River Legacy Nature Center that takes place from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023. This family-friendly outdoor event features a variety of games, bounce houses, a pumpkin patch, live music,  a dunk tank, delicious festival foods and so much more! Tickets are required for entry. Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration 

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage with the Arlington Public Library 12-2 p.m. at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library.  Enjoy dance performances, music, and crafts. Most importantly, immerse yourself and learn about Latin and Hispanic Culture! ¡Celebre la herencia hispana con nosotros! Disfrute de espectáculos de danza, música y manualidades. ¡Y sobre todo aprenda sobre la cultura latina e hispana!

KUTUB: Arabic Book Club 

The Arabic Book Club “Kutub” meets at Northeast Branch Library on the first Saturday of the month from 12-1:30 p.m. Members will discuss novels, short stories, poetry, non-fiction, music, feature films or documentaries that explore Arabic culture. Read and discuss what you’ve read. Exploring new cultures, values, and practices is what makes us better human beings as any culture has things to teach us, regardless of differences. Open for adults and seniors. No registration required.

Sunday Brunch

Ventana Grille at the Tierra Verde Golf Club clubhouse is now serving brunch from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each Sunday. Menu items include four savory Eggs Benedict entrées, Shrimp-N-Grits, Ginger Salmon, and our favorite - Napoleon's Last Meal, a buttermilk fried chicken breast over bourbon french toast and served with maple syrup! Cowboys Watch Party

The Dallas Cowboys are headed to Santa Clara to take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5 of the 2023 NFL season. Fans are invited to a FREE ticketed Watch Party presented by 7-Eleven Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, at Miller Lite®House at AT&T Stadium. Gates open at 6 p.m. with kickoff on NBC at 7:20 p.m. Enjoy 7-Eleven Slurpee samples, a performance by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, BBQ and gameday fare, $5 Miller Lites, a Celebrity Toast with Darren Woodson, an appearance by the official mascot, Rowdy, & more!
