Should the future Woodland West pool feature spiral slides, a splashpad or shaded picnic tables? We want to hear your thoughts! Residents are invited to voice their preferred amenities and features through an online survey that will help the City design a voter-approved makeover for this long-time community pool.
The Woodland West pool, located at 3200 Norwood Lane next to the Dottie Lynn Recreation Center, was originally built in 1972. The pool, which can serve up to 200 visitors, features a deep end and a shallow end but no other amenities. Arlington voters approved $6 million to rebuild the pool as a mini aquatics facility, similar to but smaller than the City’s Randol Mill and Bad Königshofen family aquatic facilities, as part of the 2023 Bond Program.
Through the online survey, open through March 25, residents can rank proposed aquatics amenities, which include different types of water slides and lounge areas, shade structures, lap lanes, and play areas for tots. Proposed play and agility features include basketball and volleyball, a rope-crossing feature, a shower tunnel, zipline and a rock-climbing wall. The survey also has a space where residents can propose other types of amenities they would like to see.

The rebuilt aquatics center is expected to be complete by 2027 and will include a public restroom, new concession stand, air-conditioned office for lifeguards, and a rental space for parties. The Woodland West pool will be open during the 2025 swim season but closed for construction in 2026.
Arlington Aquatics locations: Allan Bolden Outdoor Pool, Arlington ISD Natatorium, Bad Königshofen Family Aquatic Center, East Library and Recreation Center Indoor Pool, Howard Moore Play Pool, Randol Mill Family Aquatic Center, Woodland West Outdoor Pool and an indoor pool at ACTIV, which opens to visitors ages 50-plus later this month.
