TxDOT: New Interchange Ramp from I-20 Westbound to US 287 Southbound Set to Open July 29, 2024

Want to stay in the know about the Texas Department of Transportation's Southeast Connector Project and how construction activity may affect your commute? Each Friday, the City of Arlington will share the latest information about the $2.1 billion project, which will rebuild and widen approximately 11 miles of I-20, I-820 and US 287 between now and 2027. 

 Residents can also add their contact information on the Southeast Connector Project website to receive updates directly via text or email. 

When complete, the Southeast Connector Project will tie in the east and southeast part of Tarrant County to the central part of the county while relieving congestion, increasing safety and improving efficiency for the entire Metroplex.

Please note: Speed limits are now reduced to 55 mph within the entire corridor. 

Special Messages: 

• The new interchange ramp from I-20 westbound to US 287 southbound will open at 6 a.m. Monday, July 29.
• Eastbound I-20 will be closed at US 287 from 11 p.m. July 26 to 9 a.m. July 27. Traffic will detour to the U-turn at Sublett Road.
• Westbound I-20 will be closed at US 287 from 11 p.m. July 27 to 9 a.m. July 28. Traffic will detour to the U-turn at Sublett Road.
• Eastbound I-20 frontage road over Village Creek will be closed starting at 6 a.m. Aug. 1. Traffic will use a temporary detour. 
• Northbound US 287 interchange ramp to westbound I-20 will be closed from 9 p.m. Aug. 2 to 6 a.m. Aug. 5. Traffic will detour to the U-turn at Green Oaks Boulevard.

Eastbound I-20 at US 287

• Eastbound I-20 reduced to two lanes of traffic at US 287 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Aug. 2.  

Northbound I-820 at Sun Valley Drive

• Through Aug. 2: Southbound I-820 reduced to one lane at Rosedale St. 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Eastbound I-20 at Anglin Drive

• 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Dec. 20: Eastbound I-20 reduced to two lanes between Anglin Drive and I-820. 

Southbound I-820 at Ramey Avenue

• Through Aug. 2: Southbound I-820 reduced to one lane between Ramey Avenue and Willbarger Street.

Westbound I-20 at US 287

• Lane restrictions on Westbound I-20 at US 287. 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. July 8 through July 31.

Northbound I-820/US 287 at Martin Street

• Northbound US 287 reduced to one lane at Martin Street. 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Aug. 4.  

Southbound US 287 at I-820

• Left lane closed on southbound US 287 between Village Creek Rd. and I-820. 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Jul. 19 through Aug. 4.

Eastbound I-20 at Forest Hill Drive

• Through Aug. 2: Eastbound I-20 reduced to two lanes at Forest Hill Drive from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Northbound I-820 at Berry Street

• Through July 29: Northbound I-820 reduced to one lane between Berry St. and Rosedale St.

Westbound I-20 at Bowman Springs Road

• Through July 26: Westbound I-20 reduced to one lane at Bowman Springs Road 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
