On Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to the 300 block of W. Division Street to investigate a collision between a pickup truck and a pedestrian.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a 48-year-old man lying in the roadway. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.

Witnesses told investigators they saw the man crawling across Division Street just prior to being hit. He was not using a designated crossing at the time. It’s unclear why he was crawling across the street.

The driver who struck him was unable to see him in time to avoid him. Following the collision, the driver immediately stopped, called 911, and cooperated with investigators. He is not facing any criminal charges in connection to this incident.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
