Raise your hands if you are you are ready to submit your essay! You could win!

The 2024 Sheri Capehart Animal Essay Contest has exciting new topics this year. The contest in its 23rd year, is open to students who live in Arlington that are in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th grade and attend either public, private, or home school.

Essay entries will be accepted beginning Monday, February 26, 2024, through 5 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024. No hand-delivered entries accepted after 5 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2024.

Essay Topics:

Grade 3: How can we coexist with wildlife?
Grade 4: What is migration and why do some animals migrate?
Grade 5: How are animals affected by the environment?
Grade 6: Which animal species is endangered from loss of habitat and what can we do to help?

Submitted material must be original, 500 words or less, and typed or handwritten. A cover sheet must be attached to the essay and contain the student’s name, address, phone number, school name, grade, teacher’s name and the titles of your two favorite books. Only one essay per student. Previous winners are ineligible.
