APD and city leaders cut the ribbon on the new Southwest Cop Shop

This month, the Arlington Police Department and city leaders celebrated the opening of a brand new storefront – or “Cop Shop” – in the southwest part of the city.

City Council approved funding for the satellite office, which is located at 5100 West Sublett Road, during the Fiscal Year 2023 budget cycle.

The purpose of the Cop Shop is to establish a more visible police presence in a growing section of Arlington and to give officers who patrol the area a space where they can work and complete reports without having to travel all the way back to the South District Station. The department also plans to use the space to host meetings with community members and stakeholders in the area.

“Community members in the southwest part of our city made it clear they wanted a greater police presence in their neighborhoods and we listened,” said Chief of Police Al Jones. “This new Cop Shop will give the officers who patrol that area greater flexibility to spend more time there.”

Although the Cop Shop will be accessible to patrol officers 24/7, it will not be staffed to conduct public business. Members of the public seeking in-person assistance should still go to the lobby of our Main Station, 620 W. Division St. in Downtown, or one of our three substations.
